Hello! I’m Sedona.

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), who works with children, teens, and adult individuals from an attachment-based therapeutic model. I prefer a collaborative and creative approach to therapy. I work with each client to develop a plan targeting their specific needs and building upon existing strengths. The modalities I most commonly utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Child-Centered directive and non-directive Play Therapy, Brief-Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, especially those who identify as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). I have extensive experience working with children experiencing emotional and behavioral problems at home and school, and symptoms resulting from disrupted attachment.

After the birth of my first child in 2020, I took a special interest in Perinatal Mental Health and supporting other new parents. My personal experiences with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum drove me to pursue this specialization so I could best serve mothers going through similar experiences. I received my certification through Postpartum Support International in 2021.

Due to the adaptable nature of my therapeutic philosophy, I choose to develop a specialized and creative treatment plan designed to suit each client individually. I take a positive and empathetic approach to therapy, and work to create a safe, non-judgmental space for each client to be present within.  My priority is to support each client in their journey to self-love and peace of mind.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Colorado at Boulder. While working towards my Bachelor’s degree, I spent my time interning as a research assistant on a study focusing on Childhood Traumatic Grief and volunteering at Women In Crisis, a domestic violence shelter for women and children.

After relocating to California, I attended Palo Alto University, where I obtained my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. While working towards my Master’s degree, I completed my practicum at StarVista, providing group therapy in schools to children whose parent’s suffered from substance abuse. I then transitioned to community-based wraparound work at Seneca Family of Agencies in San Francisco, working with children, teens, and families. I also spent several years working as a therapist in San Francisco Charter Schools providing individual and group treatment to children displaying behavioral and mental health needs in the classroom. I moved to Oregon in 2018, at which point I joined Firefly Institute. Firefly is where I was trained in play therapy and received my Animal-Assisted Human Health Certificate for utilizing a trained animal in therapeutic practice.
